What are the advantages of speed networking? |
It's the most effective way to gain new business contacts. |
It's time efficient. You get to talk to many potential business contacts in one evening. This significantly increases the chances of meeting suitable contacts for your business. |
There's a clear focus on business. During a typical mini-meeting which lasts 4 minutes, each delegate talks 2 minutes about their own business and then focuses on the other delegate for the further 2 minutes. This allows each speed networking participant to concentrate on business rather than just small talk. |
It's cost effective. Gaining new customers through normal advertising channels can cost thousands. A typical speed networking event costs around ?25 per evening. |
It's result driven. As the course of the evening is very structured, participants feel 'they'd like to get something out of it'. This will increase business relations. |
It boosts your brand and company profile. |
It's an excellent way to launch new products and service. |
It's a fun way to generate new business. |

What are the origins of Speed Networking? |
Speed networking, which also called business speed dating, originated in New York and is modelled on speed dating. It combines business networking and speed dating forming speed networking. Speed networking events proved to be very effective and are now being held in the rest of America and Europe, not only at local business events, but also at large international conferences. |
Who can participate? |
Anyone who aims to gain new business contacts. Our customers are from different business backgrounds, ranging from small business owners, entrepeneurs, and representatives from large organisations. |
What happens during an event? |
At a typical speed networking event each participant has about 10 to 25 mini meetings in one evening, lasting normally 4 minutes each.
When you arrive you'll sign in and you will be given a blue or white record card, pen and number. Before speed networking starts you can buy a drink at the bar and also during scheduled breaks.
Once everybody has signed in we'll ask participants of the 'blue' group to take a seat opposite participants of the 'white' group and networking starts.
After 3, 4 or 5 minutes a bell will ring and either the 'blues' or the 'whites' move to their next business contact. At each meeting, you can exchange busines ideas and business cards with other participants. |
What happens after the event? |
It is up to each individual to decide whether to continue a business relationship with any of the contacts made at an event. |
Why do I need to pay in advance? |
In order to make speed networking events work we need to ensure that we have enough people attending each event. If you arrive at the door, there might not be a place for you. |
I don't have a credit card, can I pay by cheque? |
Yes, you can make your cheque payable to Universal Meetings Ltd and send it to Swiftevents, Universal Meetings Ltd, South Street House, 51 South Street, Isleworth, TW7 7AA. Please include the event you are booking, your name, email address and contact phone number. Note that we normally require for the cheque to arrive 7 days or more before the event date. |
What is the success rate? |
Most participants gain at least one significant business contact per event. |
What type of people attend? |
Anyone who wants to gain new business contacts. Our customers range from small business owners, self-employed business people, entrepeneurs and representatives of large organisations. |

If I attend more than once will I talk to the same people? |
At every event, we keep a record of each customer's number and group allocation and we try our best at consecutive events to make sure that anyone who has attended before will talk to as many new contacts as possible.
